Greetings all I have a few problems with Exchange on 2k3 SBS
1st of all this is a Dell Power Edge 2600 with MS Windows Server 2003 SBS Prem Edt. The Os was reinstalled by an outside source and does not seen to be operating within the norm. Now when I restart the system I get the following event codes: 8026, 2104, 2102 8250 all related to exchange. When I add a user they do not show up in the exchange post office on any of the clients boxes. Before the reinstall everything worked like it should and now not so good. Is there a way to correct this issue without having to do a reinstall? This is becomming a serious issue with the high-ups and I'm on the block.

Thanks again

Explain patiently that the error is caused by a sloppy installation of the OS and that you can have a go at fixing it. If your work does not fix it (and explain that is would be a bodge to do it) then it will need a full reinstall.

Now:

On the existing build, ensure that the new users being created are going into the same OU as the existing users. If not, move them. Expand the AD Users and Computers section in advanced on SBS System Management. Then go to Outlook and see if you can see everyone in the GAL.

Then check in Exchange System Manager in Site Name\Configuration\Servers\Protocols\LDAP (Directory) Settings and see what the LDAP port is set to. If it is 389, change it to 390. Could be an LDAP conflict.

Then take a full backup of Exchange using ntbackup and back it up to disk (bkf file or whatever it is). Drop that file to another server just in case.

Then go to Windowsupdate.com and update anything it fancies.

Restart as prompted.

See what errors you now get on startup and let us know how you get on.

Remember - you DIDN'T create the problem. You are on the block for something that you didn't do. Make sure they know that...

Thanks Zelandakh I'll let you know what I come up with.

Again Thanks for looking out for the small fry.

Hardly small fry. Sloppy consultants give us hard workers a bad name. The users now hate you and the boss is giving you a hard time.

In that situation, I would like a helping hand...

Shout if you need more - there are plenty of good people on this site willing to help.
