I am running Arcserve 2000 and trying to configure the Exchange agent for a brick level backup. I run the agent configuration program and enter the account with appropriate user rights, the mailbox, the password, and the domain.
After I hit okay, it says it's trying to authenticate the account and returns Authentication Failure: Fail to create profile. Check the ExchVerify.log for details and make sure the User and Mailbox Name or Alias is correct and unique.
The ExchVerify.log shows a few errors. It says it's authenticating with full access, but later reports:
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ERROR: OpenToken() OpenProcess Failed-5
After that, it goes on to authenitcate and create a MAPI profile. Here's the MAPI portion of the log file:
<EXCH-VERIFY>: microsoft Exchange Service found in row [0]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ERROR: ConfigureMsgService() return [81002746]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ERROR: GetLastError() return [0], MAPI ERROR Message unavailable
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ExchCreateProfile() return [28]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: MAPI is initialized: cleanup resource
<EXCH-VERIFY>: MAPIAdminProfiles() successful
<EXCH-VERIFY>: Profile [EXCH_AUTHENTICATE_PROFILE26561054306657] is deleted
<EXCH-VERIFY>: Return back from impersonation
<EXCH-VERIFY>: RevertToSelf() successful
<EXCH-VERIFY>: CloseHandle() successful
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ERROR: ExchCreateProfile() profile[EXCH_AUTHENTICATE_PROFILE26561054306657] return [28]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ERROR: ExchAuthenticate() return[28]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: CallNamedPipeA() successful
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ---> Authentication result: [Authentication Failure: Fail to Create Profile --- Check the [c:\ExchVerify.log ] for detail and make sure the User Mailbox Name or Alias is correct and Unique.< case sensitive!!!>]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ExchPerformVerification() return[4]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: OpenSCManager() successful with all ACCESS
<EXCH-VERIFY>: OpenService() [ExchVerification] successful with all ACCESS
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ExchServiceControl() called with ControlCode[1]
<EXCH-VERIFY>: Service is started.
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ControlService() Stopping service [Exchange Agent Setup Verification Service]......
<EXCH-VERIFY>: StartServiceCtrlDispatcher() successful
<EXCH-VERIFY>: Service [Exchange Agent Setup Verification Service] stopped
<EXCH-VERIFY>: DeleteService() [Exchange Agent Setup Verification Service] removed
<EXCH-VERIFY>: ExchRemoveService() successfully finished
The really weird thing is that I had this working and it just suddenly stopped and would no longer let me configure. So far I have verified the service account I specified has rights down the entire tree, reinstalled and reapplied the latest service pack, verfied the contents of my mapisvc.inf file, and tried running it with my antivirus client disabled.
Any help or advice you could offer would be appriciated.
