Exchange Administrators Security Group MISSING

This is driving me crazy. I am running Exchange 2003 in a recently upgraded 2003 domain. The Exchange security groups, "Exchange Administrators" and "Exchange Enterprise Administrators" have disappeared from AD. I don't know if this happened when I upgraded the DC's from 2000 to 2003, or some other time.

I still have the "Exchange domain servers", "Exchange Enterprise Servers", and "Exchange Services" groups. I only have one Exchange server. But Exchange is working perfectly fine. Are these groups necessary in 2003? Where did they go?

Exchange domain servers and Exchange enterprise servers are the two groups you need. "Exchange Administrators" or "Exchange enterprise administrators" are not groups created by exchange; this was something done manually along the way if you have them.
