Hello everyone,

I have an exchange 5.5 server local, but my ISP provides my inetrnet email. I have a pop3 downlaod program and have exchange set to use a smarthost (my isp) to send email. This has worked for years.
We changed ISP's and after everything went through, people had problems with email... that is when our new ISP told us they do not support using smart hosts due to authentication needs and we will need to use the outlook client.
So I added a pop3 account to everyones outlook profile and set it to be the primary, and disabled the pop3 download program on server. So now each persons client downloads there own email, but it goes into the echange 5.5 mailbox and send goes through ISP.
The problem I am having is on ocassion internet email is sent to the exchange server instead of the ISP, how can I prevent this?
Can I disable Internet Messageing? If I do will that have any impact on the fact that the email is still stored on the exchange server in each person individual mailbox?

any help would be GREATLY appreciated,

thanks in advance.

on occasion"? Well that is determined by your MX record - get that changed.

Or stop listening on port 25 for email.

The way you've got it at the moment is not a good plan. You need to change the ISP who does the email for one who can help you or just move to proper Exchange email without the POP.
