Exchange 5.5 Upgrade Troubleshooting 1

Hi,

Last night one of the guys upgraded our Exchange 5.5 from Service Pack 3 to 4, and also added a Security Patch if I am correct.

Now some of the services do not start.

I am told that they are getting a Event ID 2000 and a error 3051.

Does anyone have any ideas?!

Event ID 2000:

Verify that the Microsoft Exchange MTA has started. Consecutive ma-open calls are failing with error 3051.

Is it the MTA that isn't starting? If so run a MTACHECK. Dan

Thanks Dan,

We resolved this problem as follows.

A security patch was issued sometime this week or last by Microsoft but they did not document on the same page stating that if we install the patch some of the services will not start.

After calling Microsoft they issued us with a fix, if anyone has installed this patch and would like the fix, let me know.
