Exchange 5.5 Service Pack 4 Error

When applying SP4 to 5.5 get a Dr watson error and an app error. Exception in Update.exe 0X00000005 and then fall over!

This happens when it is starting the ms mail connector or more likely just as it is about to start the IMC service. Have tried SP6 reinstall and SP4 installs over and over. Same every time.

Help would be most appreciated as I cannot seem to find anyone else with the same problem, or at least a fix.
