exchange 5.5 restore

i previously posted a message about an exchange server restore i was able to get the priv.edb & pub.edb files to restore exchange server. my scenario is my server went down the hd that had exchange portion of the priv.edb & pub.edb files got corrupted the mft record lost, was able to get restore the files priv.edb & pub.ebd to reinstall exchange on the same server the nt server that 5.5 was install in still works the main boot drive works my question is to reinstall exchange server and get info of a mail client i need and public folder that i need what other files do i need from exchange server 5.5 wil the priv.edb & pub.edb files are enough to restore the server and the others can be reinstall or do i need other files

I wrote a faq on restores. faq10-2775 this refers largely to online backups - hopefully this will give you something to start with.

Once your files are in place .. you'll want to delete the checkpoint files (location's in the faq), and once you've tried to start the services (they will fail - but try anyways), you'll have to do a few troubleshooting steps that are outlined in the faq... such as defrags and ISINTEG, deleting a registry entry..
