I'm currently running a Exchange 5.5 on a Windows NT 4.0 Server platform. I inherited a permissions nightmare from the previous Sys Admin. Anyway when I view the Public Folders in Outlook 2002. I'm unable to view some of the folders, the right hand panel says: "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The contents of this public folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Exchange Server computer servicing this public folder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site. See your administrator." I also noticed in the address bar for the same folder is says: outlook:EF000000198262C0AA6611CD9BC800AA002FC45A02000200290000000006A75B

Does anyone have any thoughts on this ???

Are you using the Outlook Bar or Folder view in OL? If you're using the Outlook Bar see if it works from the folder view. If it does then try deleting the shortcut on the OL Bar and recreating it.

If its happening in folder view try giving everyone full permissions to the folder. Then in OL, through the folder permissions tab, add yourself as an owner and change the permissions for default and other users as required.

Cheers.

I'm using the Folder view in Outlook. One thing I should add is 90% of all the public folders were created by the users themselves. The administrator doesn't have access to these folders even. I tried looking for the pfadmin.exe tool but I'm unable to locate the tool or the 5.5 resource kit. Any ideas???

Hi!
You can change the permissions of a Public Folder through Microsoft Exchange Administrator. For example, here you can see how you can give permissions to the Administrator’s account:
