I have MS Exchange 5.5 set up on a Win 2000 server running as a trusted domain. When using Outlook on a desktop a logon error comes up saying "There was a problem logging onto your mail server. yourPassword was rejected. Account: 'xyz', Server: '123.45.67.891', Protocol: POP3, Server Response:'-ERR There is no such mailbox on this server.....

It's more of a pain in the neck because mail still is received and I can send mail anywhere. The mailbox is set up, so what do I do in order to alleviate this problem?

Thanks

on your logon to the domain, is it the same name as your mailbox ?

It needs to be in all cases. I've had this issue to, with domain usernames not matching the username on the account. It wasn't a problem if the connection was from a client machine in the same domain as the Exchange server, but when you try to cross trust or access the mail from the outside via POP, the username had to be the same as the email address. There may be an alternate solution to the trust issue, but I don't think there is one to the POP scenario.

I ram across having to re-install the Outlook
for some reason, sometimes it missed places files or missed install some link to the proper location

Isn't this why you may be required to specify both the username and alias when logging onto the pop account? For example, jbill01 = username, happy = domain, jbill =alias

For login you would have to use happy\jbill01\jbill or something to this effect? If the alias and username match you don't have to be concerned with all this?
