Exchange 5.5 Internet Mail Connector NDR

I have a exchange 5.5 SP4 with internet mail connector for our internet e-mail. How do I get the NDR's to be sent to people(external to our company) who send messages to a mispelled e-mail address.

This will be done automatically.

The sender of the e-mails will receive a Unknown User NDR.

Is there any way it could be turned off because it is not working. I have checked my mx records and they are fine. Could it have anything to do with disabling relaying? any ideas?
