Exchange 5.5 Decommission

Wondering if anyone can help me with this problem.

I have a Windows 2000 AD environment and a Exchange 5.5 server. I am going to decommission the 5.5 server this week and have installed a Exchange 2000 server with Active Directory Connector (ADC). The problem is that when I have to move the mailboxes from 5.5 to the new 2000 server. When I try to move the mailbox from the 5.5 server, it states it cannot move it. Microsoft states I have to move it from the Active Users and Computers' Exchange Tasks. I check the Active Users setting and it just states 'create user' under Exchange Task. How can I move the users from 5.5 to Exchange 2000??

Actually there is no error.

The problem is that from the Active Directory Users and Computers, when I select a username/exchange tasks - there is no option for move mailbox.

you need to have exchange 2k system management mmc installed on dc. (or the machine you are running AD users and computers) without this you dont see move mailbox.

To migrate/move Exchange 5.5 mailboxes to an Exchange 2000 Server you need to use the Active Directory Migration tool (ADMT). This tool is very slick and easy to use. You can find more information about it on Microsoft's web site.

I actually found the problem. I installed the ADC on a AD controller that wasn't the global catelog. As soon as I installed the ADC on the global catelog, it allowed me to move mailboxes from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000.
