Hi there,

We are currently applying the following MS Security patches to our machines over the network.

MS02-071, MS03-045, MS03-033, and MS04-003.

I was wondering if there is any special precautions that need to be taken when applying these types of patches to an Exchange server running 5.5 SP4?

Thank you.

YES! Backup backup backup!

Before applying any SP take a backup of your mail server. But specifically, no I have applied these (except MS04-003 which I haven't had time to test yet) to all my exchange servers without issue. I wouldn't bother with MS03-033 as MS04-003 replaces that patch so it would be a waste of time installing it unless you feel the need or are going to use Q-Chain?

Rule of thumb is get a good back up then once you're bouncing the server(s) keep those fingers crossed.

Can you let me know how you get on with MS04-003?

Cheers,

Iain
