I am checking the FAQ for this section, but I'm not finding the answer just yet. I upgraded to from Exchange 2K Standard to 2K Enterprise on Friday and everything seems OK. I get 1217 event log messages indicating that there is no limit on either priv or pub edb files and that’s exactly what I expected to see. No question here so far I know, so here it is: I’m still getting 1221 messages that I have X amount of space still available in the DB, as follows:

The database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (ServerName)" has 1642 megabytes of free space after online defragmentation has terminated.

My question is: can I safely ignore this message, or have I overlooked something? Basically I’m concerned that there are two conflicting Event Log messages and that I’ve screwed something up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No, everything is correct.

Your priv.edb is currently let's say 15GB. After reorganising everything, Exchange is reporting to you that in fact the amount of data INSIDE the priv.edb file is 1.6GB less than that.

Technically you can reclaim that space and bring the size of the file down, but I would not bother.

Hope this makes sense.
