I am wondering, how to install if i have NT server as domain controller and installing exchange 2k on windows 2000 server.. How do i setup active directory in this situation. I don't want two different domains , just want to validate users created in NT domain account.

Thankyou in advance...

As long as all your Pc's are on the same internal network you can have mixed servers...
I have a NT40 PDC Server login scripts and authentication happens there. A Novell 3.12 File Server with no login set on the Microsoft Client for Novell, "50 times better than Novells client, by the way..." A 2000 Server a a Member Server of the same domain, and a Small Business Server with DHCP for everyone Exchange 2000 Proxy etc, however with one hitch... It is a different domain which requires identical user name and passwords as the other servers. When the users touch this server everything works fine. I run 2000 Professional and can see all Access exchange as well as other mail systems and such.

To be able to create the same Domain for all of them, I would simply demote my NT 40 server and I would see all.

As to your question... In order to have Exchange run it does need active directory, And if you want to maintain one domain name, you will have to demote your NT server and then rename your 2000 server domain name and machine name to your specifications prior to turning on active directory, cuz after you upgrade to active directory, I think it would be impossible to change domain names, unless you wanted to remove active directory which is another kind of nightmare you don't want to find out about...
