Hello,
Last year, my company finally decided to migrate from Lotus Domino to MS Exchange.
Initially, we were planning to migrate to Exchange 2019 and we did the initial sizing around 7 to 8 months ago.
We received the HW sizing and proceeded with procuring the required HW and we received it a couple of months ago.
The project was on hold since early this year because of the pandemic and when we finally decided to proceed, we were revisiting the sizing in light of current email traffic which was surprisingly about 90% increase in number of mails Sent and received while the average message size is almost the same. Additionally, number of mailboxes increased by 4%.
Also due to forest functional level issues we are now planning to migrate to exchange 2016 instead of 2019.
Now we were asked to almost double the initial HW to accommodate the increase in mail volume, however, our architecture guy said that we can proceed with the initial HW and it will accommodate such increase despite that the partner is asking to double the HW.
He claims so because he see that the current HW is enough and we can consider migrating to exchange 2022 later next year and begin actual migration early 2022.
I’m not really convinced of the above and I’m really concerned about performance if we continued with initial HW.
Any ideas or thoughts regarding this will be appreciated.
