Ok, I know that my question might be a little misleading as I'm really not suggesting I install Exchange 2010 utilizing DAG in my Hyper-V failover cluster. What I would be doing is installing a VM of Exchange on each server (that happens to be in my Hyper-V cluster) outside of the failover clustering services HA. I have read that this scenario is supported by Microsoft, but was just wondering if anyone had done it and had any real life information to share.

I've done it, even though I'm not fan of virtualizing Exchange. Works fine.

I'm virtualizing just about everything I have (that's supported), and Exchange is the one I want to make sure I'm spot on with. I've enjoyed 2007, but it's time to urgrade and I love what I've been able to do with Hyper-V.
Thanks Pat.

Follow up question to this scenario... I am working with a HP P4300 iSCSI SAN, my first thought was just to create two volumes for each server off the SAN, one for OS and system files, the other for DB and LOGS (using physical disk for DB and LOGS instead of VHD).

Would it be better for some reason to keep that system and OS files volume locally DAS instead of off the SAN?

Would it also be better for that OS and system files volume physical disk instead of VHD?

If you've got the local drives, use them. If not, as long as the SAN can deliver the perfomance you need, you're fine.
