I have two sites each with an exchange 2010 server installed, the exchange servers have Hub Transport, Client Access and Mail Box Server roles installed.

There is one corporate site (EX1) and one disaster site (EX2).

I have setup a Data Availability Group to replicate the database between the two Exchange servers.

I also configured a Client Access Array on EX1 (caa1)and assigned it to the database on EX1 , but did not install Network Load Balancing, I plan on using a load balancing appliance, or manually updating the DNS record for the array if we have a client access failure.

After reading several blogs I believe I need to also create a Client Access Array on EX2 with a different array name (caa02).

Do I need do this? Can I assign the second client access array to the database that is part of the Data Availability Group so that the database is associated with both Client Access Arrays? Will this cause a problem with access from the clients?

I will have local users using Outlook 2010 and remote users using Outlook Anywhere.

Dose this configuration seem feasible?

Databases can only be part of one CAS array, and you can have one CAS array per AD site. Also, with multi roled servers, you can't use WLB. You need a hardware load balancer.

Thank you

Just so I have it clear.

I have a Corp Site with exchange 2010(HT, CA, MB), DAG with the DR Site and a CAS array.

And on the DR Site I have exchange 2010 (HT, CA, MB), DAG with the Corp Site.

The two sites are separated by a Site to Site VPN connection.

Because I have the DAG installed on these server I can’t use the WLB. I need to use a third party load balancer.

With the DAG the database is on both servers, one server has it mounted and one server the database is being replicated to and will come on line if the mounted one is dismounted or fails.

Even though the databases are in different sites (Corp, DR) I can only have one CAS array associated to the database.

Currently I only have the Exchange server in the Corp site listed in the CAS array.

Should I also add the Exchange Server in the DR Site to the existing CAS array?

What will happen if the client access server fails in the Corp Site and I have not added the DR site to the existing CAS Array?
