I have seen several articles referencing steps on the upgrade process from 2007 to 2010. My question deals with the aspect of doing the install of 2010 on the new box and role installs. Some articles I've seen have you do just a typical multirole install, while some articles have you perform a CAS role first, getting that straight, then proceeding with the other individual role installs. Mine is a typical 2007 single server multirole install that I will be migrating to a 2010 single server multirole install. So typical install or individual role installs?

Not sure why you'd do them one at a time. Install all of the roles that you require, then configure each.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

That's what had me scratching my head and I know if you had separated roles on multiple servers, you'd do those a specific order starting with the CAS role. But some of the articles mentioned existing multirole installs and still implementing role by role installs to follow that same order as if separate.

Thanks again Pat for the assist.
