Hi Everyone,

Hopefully this is an easy question but I'm having difficulty finding a definitive answer.

I'd like to freeze all email delivery to user mailboxes. I'm aware this can be done by going into ESM, locating the queues in your server and then right clicking and choosing the option to Freeze All.

My question is that if I use this option, will all other emails just carry on building up in the queue or will they fail to deliver (NDR)?

Ideally I need emails to carry on queueing until I decide to unfreeze the queue.

Unfortunately I'm unable to test in the live environment so am hooing someone has done this before

Thanks in advance

They will accumulate in the queue. No NDRs will be generated. SMTP still listens and accepts mail on port 25, but the mail that comes in will not be delivered to local mailboxes, it will accumulate in the Local Delivery queue. When you freeze the queue, all you stop is the processing and routing, not the basic mail acceptance mechanism.
