Hello,

We currently run Exchange 2003 on Windows server 2003.

We are currently having an issue with sending e-mails to a specific external domain. The e-mails are sent and leave our systems but don't seem to get to the other domains mail server. after about 30 min the e-mails are bounced back as unaccepted. The odd problem with this is that sometimes e-mails are sent and received by them and other times they are not.

looking Further into this We've discovered that the other domains secondary mail server is accepting the e-mails but the primary seems to reject them

my question is, is it possible to create a redirect in exchange telling it that any e-mails going to this domain should send the e-mails to the secondary mail server rather then the primary.

Thank you for any help you can provide

I would think that the receiving end should be notified of the problem, and they should take ownership of it.

The whole nature behind MX records is so that backups are available if the primary is not. Mail should always go to the primary first.

Again - they should fix the problem. You don't list the DSN code here so that we provide more info as to WHY it's bouncing.
