Hello,

I am working remotely to help someone configure ActiveSync so my uncle can get his iPhone syncing with his exchange server.

They are on Exchange 2003 SP2. I have enabled Mobile Access, and internally they can go to http:\\servername\oma but externally I cannot go to http:\\ip\oma (they do not have a domain, they use an IP for everything).

I was wondering if anyone knew what I am doing wrong.

Some more background info, OWA is already set-up and running (via IP) and both ports 80 and 443 are open. I am at a loss.

Thanks,

Michael

OMA and ActiveSync are not the same thing. OMA is nothing more than a styless version of OWA, designed for small screen phones that don't support EAS (ActiveSync).

EAS requires a trusted cert and host names coming back to the server (such as mail.mydomain.com).

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Thanks, I have been pushing them towards this as it was, now they need to do it (get a domain).

If you have a static IP already, it is a no brainer and will cost you about $5 a year.
