We use Exchange 2003, we have one particular email (outside our domain), example: Johndoe@Aol.com . when they send us an Email, we don’t receive it.
However, when you look in the Message Tracking, its shows it was delivered. In addition, if we email Johndoe@aol.com and put a read receipt on the message, we’ll get a return on the read receipt, but you won’t get the Reply back from Johndoe@aol.com in our inbox. This happens for anyone in our domain. Just this one email account.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Thank you

What do you have implemented for your Anti-Spam solution? Are you utilizing Exchange Server 2003's IMF and Anti-Spam features? If so I would check to see if by some chance you have an RBL implemented that could be blocking inbound email from this domain. Sounds like that could be your possible problem as I ran into aol.com being blocked by several RBL's

yea, we have it implemented but only a few entries are in it. However, we do use Antigen. But, it doesn't show it filtering this email address. We can receive emails from these outside domain (example: aol.com) from others. It's very strange, when tracking the eamil it shows it was delivered correctly.

We use AntiGen as well, I would check to see where the RBL's are implemented, in Exchange or in AntiGen. In AntiGen, if I remember correctly when you have the RBL
's implemented there you must tell it to log the purged message or I believe it does it without notifying you. That is strange how it allows some emails from aol.com in and others not. If you are doing the RBL's in exchange, I don't think there is really anyway to see what is being blocked unless you download a free package, that I read about on here I believe. Hope this is of some assistance and is helpful in narrowing things down.

Regards,

Nate

Did you ever get this resolved, and if so what was the problem? I'm experiencing a similar thing, but have discoevred 5 domains to this date that their mail either bounces or floats in cyberspace undeliverable. Most domains work fine, but these 5 do not. How do I use message tracking to see if they're even reaching our server?

Thx,

jeff

NateJustice - I assume when you refer to RBL's being implemented, you are refering to Global Settings > Message Delivery within Exchange System Mananger ?

Refrigerationdude - To track a message within Exchange Message Manager go to Tools > Message Tracking Center

Thanks,

Semperfi2004,

Yes, if you go to properties on message delivery, there should be a tab there that displays the RBL's, and it should show which ones you have active, if any.

Nate

Thanks, yea it doesn't show anything.. Just can't figure out the life of me what is causing this problem.

Another oddity is if I have the JohnDoe@Aol.com email me at my Personal Bellsouth account, and have my Personal Bellsouth Account forwarded to my account on our Domain, The message gets lost. Can't even find it in the message tracking

Also, if you email Johndoe@aol.com and put a read receipt on it, we will get the read receipt, but not a reply.

And then we have the main issue, JohnDoe@aol.com sends us an email, shows it was delivered, but isn't in the Inbox or anywhere else in the mailbox

Thanks
