I am running Exchange 2003 with service packs. The email builds up in MTS-OUT and takes a really long time to deliver. The box is running on VMware. Has anyone seen this on vmware or is there a tweak in exchange that I need to speed up delivery.

The box is protected by spam software, and relay is turned off so I know it is not being used as a relay machine.

What connectors are you using?

mts-in and mts-out are used by edk connectors like the notes connector. I've seen issue with content conversion across such connectors because it takes place in a directory on the C: drive. If there's much mail flowing, it's easy to get disk bottlenecks during content conversion.

You are very good. I am running Groupwise gateway to exchange on this server. Is there a way to move this mail to the D:\ drive to avoid content conversion on the c:\ drive?

Do i just move the %systemroot%\temp folder?

But I think you can change it using the Environmental Variable without to many problems right.

You can change the environment variable to relocate the temp directory to a higher performance drive. If this a cluster, make sure you do it in the contect of the cluster account.
