Exchange 2003 Ms Press Book (70-284)

Hi all, for those who have this book I have a question:

At the beginning on chapter 4 it asks you to build a 2k server with exchange 5.5 (so that you can create the AD connectors). The boxes are in the litware inc domain wheras the servers I already have are in the contoso.com domain. However, it doesn't say whether these boxes need to be in the same or a new forest.
I assume it's a new forest as exchange can only have 1 org per forest.

Can somebody confirm this for me please??
