Hello Friend,

I have two windows 2003 exchange servers installed on two seperate 2003 domain controllers A and B.

Domain Controller A Houses Exchange A while Domain Controller B Houses Exchange B

These two exchnage servers were configured to enable failover from Exchnage A to Exchange B.

Domain Controller A has all the five FSMO roles while Domain Controller B has no FSMO roles.

Replication of Database from Exchange A to Exchange B is okay.

Users outlook connects to Exchange A when Domain controller A is online (DC that contains all five FSMOs).

Users Outlook fails to failover to exchange B when Domain controller A is offline.

Can this be as a result of the fact that Domain Controller A housing all five FSMO is offline????

Kindly Assist.

Thank you.

Huh?

Exchange on a DC = Bad.

What do you mean the two exchange servers are configured to allow failover? Are you talking clustering??

And just how precisely have you got Exchange 2003 to do database replication?

This setup is soooo wrong. Your DC with the 5 roles needs to be up 100% of the time for exchange to work properly. You really need to get Exchange on to their own servers.

And to answer your question....YES, when the DC with all FSMO roles are down, then Exchange will fail. And as zbnet states; Are you clustering DC's/EXCHANGE together?

Are both servers Global Catalogs?
