Hi Guys,

Going to be installing a new network for a client and have a few questions.

The company has about 35 users but their combined mail box size is well over 16GB so i have to use exchange 2003 enterprise edition. Can i install this on a server 2003 standard? if so are there any considerations i should think about? Do you recomend having the server 2003 standard as a domain controller? they will have another one also acting as file and print.

Any help would be grately appreciated.

Cheers

Paul

Yes you can do that. See my response in Exchange 2000 on migrating from standard to enterprise. It is very simple.

Yes, it is possible to install E2K3 Enterprise on W2K3 standard. However, your options will be limited when you start running into viru=tual memory errors.

I'm curious as to how you arrived at the size of your mailboxes. At my school of 250 student users and 50 faculty, I have a database size of 10 Gigs. What are your users up to?

Our users have a limit of 30MB then they cant send or receive. They archive there old email.

My users are using pop3 accounts just now and their combined pst file size is about 12 gigs. This would go down i'm sure once it's in an exchange database but they use the mail system alot and it will get hammered.

I'm sure an upgrade to exchange 2003 enterprise will only be a year or two away.
