Exchange 2003 Client wont connect thru VPN

Since upgrading my exchange client from 2000 to 2003, the client no longer can connect to the exchange server thru the VPN. I have tried it on 3 PC's running XP with the same result. It starts to open and the shell of the Exchange client is visible then I get an error that it cannot connect to the exchange server.
Any Ideas?
It worked fine with the previous version of exchange.
