Hey everybody,

I was browsing my network the other day and stumbled across my Exchange logs, and low and behold, they stopped clearing (therefore not being backed up properly). Thankfully I have a large drive with lots of space free yet, but it's up to 90GB's and growing daily.

The backup job runs fine (We're running 11d) until the end and gives this error:

V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied.

Access denied to directory EUQ_CGYMAIL01 [euq_cgymail01]?.
Directory \\CGYMAIL01\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes\EUQ_CGYMAIL01 [euq_cgymail01]? was not found, or could not be accessed.
None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up.

Firstly, I don't even know what this EUQ_CGYMAIL01 account is? Last logged on by Administrator. Size is 0KB, and Total Items is 0. Last logon time was September 15, 2007. Is it something from my Trend Micro AV that I had installed (End User Quarantine)? If so, I removed that portion from the server, so in theory I should be able to delete this account, right?

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone! I need to get these logs cleared! =)

I have seen this when the backup job includes a mailbox that has been deleted. Check in the job for user mailboxes that no longer exist.

In order to clear the logs you need to be doing a Full type backup, and you need to be backing up the Microsoft Information Store (which contains both the Mailbox store and public folder store)
