Guys:

I have been searching and cannot find a clear answer on this. So pardon the question if I missed it.

I have a client that has Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 on the same box. It is a single domain environment of 20 people thus the single server.

The question is, can we upgrade to SBS 2003 or does it need to be a wipe and re-install from scratch. I am getting answers from all over the board. Mostly stemming from the current install NOT being a SBS product line. The project changes scope depending on the answer. A wipe and re-install is much more involved than an upgrade (usually) :)

Anyone do this before (I suspect yes).

It is one DC. Single beefy server doing it all :)

Thanks for the info on this I will read away :)

I appreciate a real world response.

Funny thing is I just got a note from the lady at MS saying you cannot upgrade.

I believe the official response is it's not supported. Build the box from scratch.

I agree. Where there is probably a disconnect is there is no upgrade SKU for a product line. Your document was very helpful :)

Microsoft has gone out of their way to have documents on the Internet removed that showed how to circumvent various SBS limitations.
