Exchange 2000 Restore - Arcserve 7.0/2000

I'm trying to restore a backup of a public folder to a temporary drive (not using the original location). When I try to perform the restore, I get the following error message:

E8605 Failed to start restore. (DBNAME=First Storage Group, EC=Remote procedure call failed.

Any ideas?

Seems to me you are trying to restore a 'hot online' backup ( backup of a public folder with the Exchange Agent )to a 'cold' ( flat file ) directory on another machine, is that correct ?? If so, this cannot be done, you have to restore this public folder with the Exchange Agent to the Exchange server

You can only restore Public folder to a another public folder not to normal folder.

Try to create another public folder and to a restore.
