Hi,

Can anyone help me with this? We have an Exchange 2000 server and the only mailbox it backs up is the Administrator's box. It can't backup the other users mailboxes cause it does not have the rights. Anyone know how to add the admin rights to all the individual users accounts?

Thanks,

BM

For Exchange 2000, you should only have to go into the Exchange System Administrator and highlight the organization. Right click or choose Action and then select delegate control (need to be logged on as an Exchange admin at that time). Then follow the wizard to grant the account you are looking to backup Exchange 2000 with the Exchange Administrator role. then reauthenticate the agent.

The steps should be outlined in chapter 3 of the Exchange agent users guide (it is in PDF form and should be accessible from the same screen you have chosen to install the agent from).

Bulkmail,

Pls follow thw FAQ regarding the Exchange agent configuration that is available on this forum...

You know I do not know. As far as I knew you need the Exchagne agent. But I walked into another persons environment and I do not know enough to figure this one out. Basically it looks like this:
Windows 2000 Server, Exchange 2000, and then Arcserve 2000.
I checked program files and I can not see the Exchange agent listed. I also checked Add/Reomove and only saw the Arcserve 2000 server installation. No agent for Exchange.
However, when I go into Arcserve, I see all the mailboxes and sub-folders listed--just like brick-level. I did not know that you could do this. Seems like there is only a permisson issue that I can not seem to get around--hence only being able to backup the admin mailbox. Otherwise everything else seems to back up fine.

Thanks,

BM

Thanks everyone. I have resolved my issue. I created a user account that only belonged to the Exchange Domain Servers group and the builtin Administrator account (so I could log onto the server). After that I was able to log on and view every mailbox in the database. I learned that by default, the domain admin groups are restricted access to all mailboxes.

Make sure you are not backing up the "M" drive that microsoft uses for IFS backups of exchange. There was a MS Q article out there referencing that backing up this drive can cause corruption of Exchange. I do not know if it is still a problem. The Q article also stated that AV should not be run on that drive.

What is AV? I am backing up the M:\. I will see what I can find.
Thanks,

BM

That is similar to the document I saw (if not the same one). AV is antivirus.

Good luck.
