Exch2k and external mail servers

I need to configure Exchange 2000 to use an external mail server as an incoming mail gateway (more or less). The MX is currently pointed at this server because it has better virus protection and I need to get the mail from there to my Exchange server. The external server is NOT an Exchange server.

Is this possible? If so, what needs to be done?

I use poproute to populate user accounts from external pop3 email accounts. In my case it is only for website email so there is no need for tasks and such. (WHich you cant do through pop3)

Don't remember where I got the app, and depending on your needs, its setup can be daunting.

Did your Exchange server and web site exist on the same domain?
