Hi, i'm adding a second exchange 2000 server, going to move everyone over to it, then remove the first exchange server(old one)

my question is do I need to run forestprep and domainprep on the second server before I install exchange?

I didn't and it seems to work..will I run into any problems down the road?

Thanks for any help!

Forestprep and domainprep aren't for preparing a server, they are for changing the AD schema. When you add a new Exchange server to a domain, whether or not it is also a DC, the schema that exists at the time is unaffected. You would only need to load those things again if you created a new domain. I assume that you ran them when you first introduced Exchange 2000 to your network.

If you wanted to migrate to Exchange2003, I think you'd need to run them.
