Hi we have a little problem and looking for some help.
Let me explain the network so you get an understanding of what’s been happening.
Two Windows 2003 domain controllers
One Exchange 2000 Server
The exchange server is on its last legs and needs to be changed to a exchange 2003 server, we purchased a new HP Proliant ML 350 server and installed exchange 2003 onto it in the existing org.
Moved a few mailboxes over to the new server and all seemed fine.
Our goal is to slowly remove the Exchange 2000 server; we will be doing this over a period of 3 weeks.
So both server are running together side by side.
The first Exchange 2000 server is a routing Master and the new Exchange is a member.
Mail flow is fully working from both servers internally as well as externally.
I need would like to be able to set the systems so if I stop the smtp service on exchange 2000 main gets routed from the new server, however if I stop the smtp service on the old server no mail gets routed anywhere, it sits in the outbox on user pcs.
I;ve added the 2003 server to the bridgehead, a mx record has been setup by the isp using a different public ip address.
Can someone please explain how we can do this please.
