I am in the progress of upgrading to Exchange 2007 from Exchange 2000. I Installed 2007 on a new server. There was no database created in the "first storage group" folder that I can see (in Windows Explorer). When I look at the Exchange Managment Console it says Mailbox Database.mdb is there, but when I try to mount it I get an error. Is this by design? Is this because I need to move the 2000 database over to the new server and rename it (the 2000 one is priv.edb)? If so, do I just copy the database, move it, and rename it then mount it?

Thanks, Jeff

You need to uninstall 2007 and reinstall. You should see a new mdb for the mailbox database when you install.

After you get a good install and can mount the mailbox database, you will use the 2007 Exchange GUI to move the mail boxes from the 2000 server to the 2007 server.
