Our network users are getting a 'File is locked for editing by 'user', Click 'Notify' for read-only access and notification of when file is free.

Problem is, NONE of our users have Excel open while this is going on. Each Excel file shows a different user name having files locked, some users are down for 2 locked files.

Just converted from Excel97/WinNt to Excel2K/Win2K

Anyone had similar problems?

You may want to try a process of elimination by either;
1. having only the server and 1 workstation operating when you try to open the file. If this works, you can try adding one workstation to the mix and trying again to see who the actual culprit is.

or

2. Set up a directory where only one user has rights. Have that user try to open the file. If this works, you can add users to the security list and see which system causes the problem when you open the file. Mahalo,
