How the heck do you enter data into a combo box in Excel 2000? I've created a combo box - but can't enter or associate it to a range of data. I would like to have it populated with a range of cells from another page of the same workbook. Or better yet with data from an Access DB.

Thanks

You should be able to right click and go to "Format Control" to select the range to populate it with. Kevin

Kevin,

I don't see any place in Format Control that allows me to set a range. I workmate can do this easily in Excel 97 - but Excel 2000 seems to have bundled VB with everything you want to do. I'm already a programmer in two languages. Don't want to learn another. Thanks for the reply though.

Perhaps we're talking about two different things, but when I right click on the combo box, I go to "Format Control", then I go to the "Control" tab and select the cells or cell ranges I want to populate my combo box with. I can select the "Input Range" the "Cell Link" and the number of "Drop Down Lines." Kevin

Kevin,

I'm not sure if you have Excel2000 or not, but when I go to Format Control - the 4 tabs I have are Size, Protection, Properties, and Web.

I solved it over the weekend by going to Comb_box properties and inserting the range into the ListFillRange attribute. It works much differently than on Excel97.

Thanks for your help though.

Using Win2K and Excel2000. Not sure what I'm doing differently, but I'm glad you got it worked out. Kevin

Hey - just stumbled on this. If you place a combo box on a sheet from the "Forms" toolbox then you get the addition option tab for "Control" you can then select your range and your link cell. But your linked cell will only show the numeric value of the selection.
However, if you use the "Control Toolbox" to select and add your combo-box, then you can use the VBA properties to set the link cell and range. And the linked cell will show the text value of the selection. STRANGE????
but that's Microsoft for ya.

It's not Strange. Then "Forms" controls are simple controls that you can assign macros to. "Control Toolbox" controls are VB objects that can do much more.

It is the same in Excel 97 and Excel 2000.
