Here is an update.

My Excel 2000 will NOT Save or Saveas ONE file. I'm using XP. The file works FINE on another XP box. It works fine on a 98 box, and a NT2000 one.

I open the file and tell it to saveas and you get the dialog saying "Document Not Saved", but the name changed. If you try to saveas some other file type, it doesn't error out, but it doesn't save a file either. A week old version of the file works fine.

I checked for External Links and there are NONE in any of my worksheets.

I checked the Iterations settings under Calculation, and there was no difference, although there are Circular References on one sheet.

I switched to manual calculation, and unchecked "caluculate before saving". No difference.

I check my System Info from the About Help pulldown. Apparently by having Word 2002 on the system (came with it), and Office 2000, the machine "thinks" I have Office 2002, as it is listed in there along with Office 2000. So, I deleted Word 2002. System Info listed was removed. But, no difference.

So I looked at the Add-Ins listed under Excel in the System Info screen. There was "addinmgr.xla" listed, but it didn't exist on my system. So, from inside Excel, went to add-ins and clicked it, only to find it say I couldn't find it, did I want to remove it? Sure. No difference.

Any suggestions....

Hi!

Have you deleted all TMP files and all ~* files? If you search for *.tmp files and delete them all, then next search for ~* files and delete them all. Chances are this will fix your problem.

Or, you just have a corrupt file - I've had Document not saved erros before - IME, they're usually caused either by too little space on the directory to save to or by a corrupted file (aout 90% of the time it has been the latter)
Suggest you select all sheets and copy them to a new workbook and try to save that over the original file.

I've had this error too - seems to be caused by copying sheets that have references to named cells into the the workbook, or inserting new sheets into a workbook with names. Can't always re-create the problem, however, but it is a major pain!

xlbo is right - all you can do is copy and paste your info into a new workbook and save that.

I've had this error message. The file was corrupted due to network de-connection/ re-connection.

The file seemed to be fine but I couldn't save it.

After copying the sheets that had been modified in the initial original file, everything was ok.
