Hi,

I have a guess commong question where I struggle with Excel.

I have a header: hattr1, hattr2
and each header has 1 .. n lines with attr:
nattr1,nattr2,nattr3

How to handle and enter this efficiant in 1 sheet:

hattr1 hattr2 nattr1 nattr2 nattr3
Head1 AA Line1 C D
Head1 AA Line2 C D
Head1 AA Line3 C D

If i do as above i have to repeat for each line the header.
This is what I want to avoid. But like that I can perfectly sort or filter

What i can do is to merge the hattr1 column together and
the same for the hattr2 but than I loose sort and filter possibilities.

So how to avoid to enter several times the header info and still be able to sort and filter.

Thanks a lot for your help,
brg Robert

Try looking at the TRANSPOSE worksheet function. The help file is not clear. Here is a hint on usage.

If hattr1 is cell A1, with nattr1-3 in rows A2,A3,A4
and hattr2 is cell B1, with nattr1-3 in rows B2,B3,B4.

Select cells C1:F3, in the formula bar type [tt]=TRANSPOSE(A1:B4)[/tt] then hit [tt]CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER[/tt].

If this does what you want, notice that the formula in cells C1:F3 will have changed to [tt]{=TRANSPOSE(A1:B4)}[/tt]

If this does not do what you want, post some 'sample' data so I can see what you are working with?
