Excel - what are the cell dimensions?

In Excel, how are cells measured? Are they twips, pixels, millimeters or what? Like a standard row height is 12.75, but 12.75 what?

its the width of one character in the Normal style. F

or proportional fonts, the width of the character 0 (zero) is used.

The 12.75 is points, a "point" is 1/72nd of an inch. Of course scaling and screen resolution will affect what you actually see ... I'm just telling you the original meaning.
