I have an "IQY" file (Excel web query) that when launched opens in Excel and when the refresh data option is clicked will refresh the data.
However, from that point forward the refresh button no longer functions. That is to say that the query appears to run (you can see the globe spin) but the exact same data set is returned even when known data changes were made. To prove this we can simply close the IQY/Excel filee and reopen and the data changes are indeed returned to the sheet.
Is there any way around this? I have tried every possible combination of switches in the connection properties tab to no avail and I have also tried Excel 2003 and 2007.
The only oter workaround is to click on EDIT QUERY -- this opens the web url in the excel query window. If I immediately click cancel (without making changes) and then click refresh -- the data is refreshed. It's like this re-establishes the connection to the web server.
Any ideas?
BTW -- in case it is relevant the web query in questions is to an Oracle Discoverer Query
