Excel updates modify time even when document not saved.

One of my users has discovered some strangeness with excel 98 updating the modify times on files even when he selected not to save changes. Any idea what's up with that?

He's recently been upgraded to 2k, so I don't know if that solved the problem, but its still an interesting question.

Is Autosave turned on? Look at Tools/Add-Ins...
If Autosave is turned on, workbooks will be
automatically saved periodically, even if the user
does not "manually" save them.
