Excel - Update Links to the other Documents

Hi Everyone,

When I open document which contains external links in Excel 2007 links are updated automatically and formulas show error until I open source documents.

Edit Links: Starup Prompt set to: Don't display the alert and don't update automatic links.

Excel Options; Advanced: Ticked "Update Links to the other Documents".When I deselect this option it resets back after I reopen file - Strange??

Anyone come across this? I don't want Update links.

I have just realised that apart from having external link to Excel documents I also have link to other application in form of some sort of query maybe that causes a problem?

One last, clutching at straws idea.
In another workbook write a macro to open the workbook explicitly not updating links. something like:

Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
"C:\Documents and Settings\....MyFile.xls", _
UpdateLinks:=False

By explicitly not updating links does that solve the issue?
