I would like to do a time calculation in Excel. I would like to enter a start time, and end time and have the formula calculate the difference returning a numeric decimal value. For example, I would enter a start time of 12:00 PM and an ending time of 1:30 PM and I want the return value to be 1.5.

A B C
12:00 PM 1:30 PM [BLUE] =(B1-A1) * 24[/BLUE]
[/pre]
Assuming columns A and B are set as TIME (not text)

Perfect! That did the job. Many thanks!

DianeSp,
Welcome to Tek-Tips [wavey2]. I hope you find this site valuable.

You should click the *Great Post! link in Andy's answer. It was quick, accurate, and even included TGML formatting for readability.

FYI, all date and time values are stated in units of days.
