Hi All

I've created a spreadsheet template which uses data validation lists. I've placed these lists in the column adjacent to the column with the lists. However, when I copy and paste data into the spreadsheet, Excel places data into the hidden column which then throws everything out of whack.

How do I make it skip the hidden columns?

Thanks

Select the range you want to copy
Press either F5, Ctrl + G, or go to Edit/Go To...
Click on the Special... button
Check "Visible cells only"

Copy and paste from there.

If you use named ranges, the "Source" field in a Data Validation dropdown can be on a different worksheet. Doing so may eliminate the need to have a hidden column.

To create a named range, select the cells within the range then type the desired name in the address bar then hit Enter. The address bar is the horizontal white rectangle above the intersection of row and column headers.
