Excel sheets will not maximize 2

Can anyone tell me why my Excel sheets will no longer maximize? It just started happening and even if I hit the maximize button the sheet will not maximize.

Has it been set in code and the workbook structure protected?

Well I hoped it would be obvious that I have tried all the basic things. Closed re-opened. Checked for code. Closed down and started over. This happens with excel only, old files new files etc. Still will not maximize at all.
