Is there any means by which we could control the fonts, color, alignment etc. when we output an excel sheet from a Mercator map?

Are you writing a csv file or using ODBC? If you know the behind the scenes control codes for MS's formating, you could proably build a tree (like and XML tree) that would contain elements to do this. Would be a lot of work.

If you can get the schema (and it is XML compliant) you can use it to import a type tree, and thus create the spreadsheet you desire.
