hi all,

i`ve a excel sheet, and the content from the cells should be written in an access database. i`ve never worked with ms-products, so i don´t know how to beginn...

Make a link from within access...

File> get external data>link tables>....choose excel files from the files of type tab at bottom,...then select the path to your excel file.

when complete....

this is now a live link and will act as though it were an access table, any updates to your xls will be reflected in the "linked table"

hi etid,

thank you very much, i tried this facility, but my problem is that i don´t need all cells but only a few of them... can you give me a further tip?

can you query out the cells that you dont need?

or maybe if it's summary data, then in the workbook create a summary sheet and point the link in access to that sheet.

hi etid,

the sheet looks like this:

names location date
müller munich p from ..
meier munich h from ..
schmidt hamburg
.
.
.
and in the end the user have to decide which record he needs in the database

You could add a column in excel and label it "Selected"...

then force data validation on that column to allow only "Yes" or "No". (...see Data>Validation from the drop down menu)

then in your access data base query the "linked" table/spreadsheet by "Selected" = Yes

thank you very much etid, but after 2 days only working on this combination i have assert that i cant´t solve this problem... so i went back to my unix-systems(which are much easier)
a lot of thank, i hope i can help you sometimes
