Excel - Running Sum

Hi,

How can i get following result in Excel?

A B
Length Start

10 1
25 11
10 36
20 46

Here A is length and B is starting position after adding column A. So at B1 it start with 1 but B2 is B1 + A1 and for B3 A2+B2.

Which type of formula i can put to do this in Excel? I have 2000 rows of data for that i wan to generate Coulm B values based upon Length (Column A)

You answered your own question.

In B2 type
=B1+A1
hover the curose over the lower left hand corner of the cell until it turns into a thick black +. Click that 'drag handle' and drag down as far as you need.

Thanks for quick reply.

When i'm draging with + sign i'm getting same value as B2 in this case 11 in all the rows.

it's copying value not formula.

Any idea why?

Go to Tools > Options, on the Calculation page, change the Calculation to Automatic (It is probably currently set to Manual).
