Does excel have a limit on the number of rows or records you can input and if yes is there anyway around it?

The max size of an Excel sheet is about 65,000 rows x 256 columns - and as far as I know there is no way to go beyond that. You can I guess have more than one sheet in each file.

Having said that, we had a thread about what is the maximum size of file a few weeks ago, and we worked out that a single character in every cell on one sheet using the above size limits, produces an 80mb sheet, which is a bit lumpy even on a high spec p.c.

If you need more space, you've obviously got the mother of all spreadsheets! Is a spreadsheet appropriate for that amount of data? Would you consider a database instead?
